ICV members are very busy as usual, getting the word out to the public that there are indeed inherent dangers in taking a cruise. Contrary to what the commercials on TV and radio want us to believe, a cruise vacation can become anything but a vacation of a lifetime. Vulnerable passengers, completely unaware are lulled into a false sense of security the minute they start planning their vacation.
Most of us, as members of ICV, have made it our mission to educate those who are considering taking a cruise. We are compelled to do something to see that no one else ever has to experience what we have. It is only though our victims efforts and the willingness of the media to listen and broadcast our information (usually in the form of a personal story or struggle) that this awareness is created.
We applaud all who have found the courage and strength to do this. Reliving unimaginable nightmares again and again isnt easy but to many victims, it is necessary!!
It is with this in mind that I am sending off this note to inform you of some of the broadcasts many of our members are involved in. Some are ready to air as soon as tonight and some are still being produced. Please find a list below.
Tonight, 1/6/2012, on Dateline NBC The family of George Smith, who disappeared from a RCCL ship on his honeymoon in July of 2005, reveals that new documents have come to light regarding what happened to George.
BBC television programme Inside Out, will air Monday night the 9th of January, featuring the Coriam family (parents of missing Disney crew member Rebecca Coriam) .
Ken Carver, Mike and Ann Coriam, Shari Cecil and others were interviewed and are scheduled to be included in a BBC Radio 4 broadcast called, Face the Facts, on January 18th, 2012.
Australian television program, SBS Dateline, has interviewed the Coriams, Ken Carver, Jamie Barnett, Merri Laursen, and others. The air date is TBD. We will keep you posted.
Ken Carver will be interviewed by Radio Europe next week for a program airing soon.
Jamie Barnett will be featured in a one hour television broadcast from Santa Barbara, CA., on a travel program called, The Sights and Sounds of the Central California Coast later this month. This program will also be available on the internet. More details to follow.
I am certain there are and will be others as calls are coming in almost daily now from the media. We will do our best to keep you informed and up-to-date on these broadcasts. This is how we bring our message to the world now. No longer is this strictly an American issue. Globally, ICV has helped bring light to the perils of being a 21st century passenger with 19th century laws.
