Press Release - February 26, 2007

PRESS RELEASE

The International Cruise Victims (ICV) acknowledges the remarks of Mr. Peter Ratcliffe, Chief Executive of the P&O division of Carnival Corp., in Australia on February 22. 2007.

ICV welcomes Mr. Peter Ratcliffe, addressing Dianne Brimble’s horrific tragedy and his statement that "Mrs. Brimble's death, and the scrutiny of the inquest, have changed us forever."  It is our hope that the company will demonstrate, through its’ actions, that this newfound determination is indeed sincere. A copy of his statement can be viewed on the website of ICV at www.internationalcruisevictims.org.

We appreciate Mr. Radcliff’s direct reference to "the proposals from the ICV advocacy organization, headed in Australia by Mr. Brimble.  We recognize that these proposals reflect the legitimate interests of the people involved in the safety and security of passengers onboard our vessels."

Kendall Carver, President of ICV, issued the following statement… "Nobody's interest in safety can be more legitimate or harder won, than ours.  Many of our members have suffered assaults, have had loved ones injured, killed, disappeared at sea.  We have seen the darkest side of the cruise industry, and are working to ensure that there shall be no more victims."

ICV’s website provides summaries of the various proposals that we believe are essential to improving the safety and security on cruise ships.  As shown on the ICV website, the original 10-Point List of Suggestions was presented at the March 7, 2006 Congressional Hearings in Washington, DC, and serves as the foundation for changes that must be made to improve the safety of passengers and crewmembers onboard cruise ships.

Although Mr. Radcliff’s remarks with his emphasis on "the need to ensure our safety and security procedures are at the highest possible standard" are in accordance with the goals of ICV, we expect that the entire cruise industry will, likewise, heed to our suggestions and act upon them.  Accordingly, this is the most important step that the industry can take to regain the confidence of the traveling public.
